Workshop on Theatre, Painting and Puppetry
“What is our imagination compared with that of a child that makes a railway with a few pieces of asparagus?” Jules Renard (1824 – 1910)
This programme is aimed towards the knowledge of various displays of puppets and marionettes through stories and practical workshops, given weekly in Carlos Ruiz primary school in Galapagar.
It is based on the importance of sensory experimentation and the practising manual skills to create intuitive thinking. This type of thinking is maintained by information received by the sense, especially sight, and develops and prepares the mind for the intellectual work of the first school years in a much more direct and efficient way than learning verbal and numerical skills.
We work on:
- Searching for spontaneous expression, using the imagination.
- Developing the recreational capacity of team work.
- Understanding their own experiences and understanding diversity through the experiences of others.
- Learning in a significant way a series of expressive techniques and about different materials that can be worked with
- Knowledge of traditional and classic stories, as well as other types of contemporary texts
The programme’s starting point is traditional stories and the children getting to know the various types puppets that they themselves have made. In this sense, each child is independent in their creative experience, free from the control of the teacher and the criticism of their peers.
