What is the philosophy of EVS?
EVS is a programme that attempts to: Provide a non-formal and intercultural educational experience through projects looking at different issues and including different activities. Promote solidarity, youth participation in society and the development of local community. Promote relationships between ONGs and the exchange of good practices.
What does EVS have to offer?
EVS is a programme, co-financed by the European Commission, that covers and includes the following:
- The voluntary activity, which can not be paid, for profit or substitute a paid employee.
- A tutor as a supportive figure to help guide the volunteer throughout the project
- The return journey tickets (managed by the sending organisation)
- Accommodation
- Food
- Pocket money (given monthly, quantity depends on country)
- Transport from accommodation to the project, if necessary
- Language tuition in the host country in the language of the host country
- Approximately 35 hours of activities per week, spread over 5 days
- Holiday: 2 days per month
- Private medical insurance covering all EVS activities (managed by sending organisation)
- Pre-departure training in sending country, and on-arrival and mid-term training in host country, given by the corresponding National Agencies. (Attendance is obligatory)
